Elephants on the Wall #Gamechangers

At ChicExecs, we are very thankful to partner with talented and passionate entrepreneurs! We look forward to traveling alongside of them to “change the game” and make a difference in 2015! Each week we will introduce you to a game changing client and share a bit about their brand’s story: how they got started, what inspires them, and how they make a difference.

Today we’d like to introduce you to our first Game Changer of the Week, our Client, Elephants on the Wall.

Elephants on the Wall provides paint-by-number wall murals that you simply tape, trace and paint. It is a do-it-yourself project to be proud of.

elephantsonthewallmuralSouthern California award-winning designer and creator of Elephants on the Wall, Patti Newton, is more than an entrepreneur. She is the keeper of whimsy and delight for children’s wall murals. Since 2005, Patti’s murals have given youngsters something to dream about when they shut their bedroom doors and watch their personal space come alive. As a former designer for Walt Disney Imagineering, she designed themed signage and graphics, seen all around the world.

How did her idea come about? During a visit with her twin grandchildren in Hawaii, she was asked to work on an unfinished paint-by-number wall mural in the children’s room. Once she started painting the mural, she began modifying the characters more and more for more accuracy and cuteness. After she finished her masterpiece with much improved characters, her son, Scott, asked, “Why don’t you do this?” It didn’t take long for Patti to realize there was a need for her skills and that she was good at envisioning what parents and children really want in a wall mural. So, six months later, Elephants on the Wall was born.

Patti loves the difference that her work allows her to make in the loves of others.

“I love designing. That is definitely my happy place, but I also want to make a difference in the world too. When I came across the idea of designing Paint-by-Number wall murals – I was in heaven! The medium fit my design style perfectly. I knew I had to do it. But even after designing, producing and selling tons of murals, with lots of very happy customers, I just wasn’t sure I was making a big enough difference. Then I came across this quote: “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” – Mother Teresa

Now I know I have been making a BIG difference all along and all around the world! And I am reminded of it every time a customer sends in a testimonial telling us how their little one now likes going to bed because he loves his room so much, or how he loves to talk to the animals and has given names to them. Or when a customer is SO happy because they aren’t artistic, but they did such a great job on the mural that their friends think she had a professional paint the mural!”

Eager to bring some joy and happiness to the lives of children, Elephants On The Wall has donated paint-by-number wall murals to Arcadia Methodist Hospital’s Pediatric Unit, LA County USC Medical Center, Five Acres: a child and family services agency, and to an orphanage in Haiti.

“Icing Smiles” Makes the Holidays Sweeter!

icingsmilesCake has always been a popular way of bringing people together for a celebration. Icing Smiles Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides custom cakes for critically ill children, has partnered with Nielsen-Massey Vanillas to create the perfect recipe for cheer this holiday season. Nielsen-Massey recognizes that there are several key ingredients needed in order for Icing Smiles to “Bake a Difference” and will be assisting through a financial partnership as well as product donations.

Icing Smiles delivers custom cakes and treats to families impacted by the critical illness of a child, matching chronically and critically ill children with volunteers who bake and donate fabulously over-the-top cakes. The non-profit was founded in early 2010 by a Tracy Quisenberry, a mom who firmly believes that everyone should use their talents to serve others, and who wanted to give back in a three-dimensional, fondant-covered way.

Today, Icing Smiles has been transforming lives one cake at a time with the help of an amazing group of 4,500 volunteers across the country. For these volunteers, known as Sugar Angels, it’s not just about delivering birthday cakes. It’s about delivering a sense of hope and a feeling of value to those in need, especially kids.

Bombas Gives Back This Holiday Season

1426626_550484148366617_572897265_nAs we head into the holiday season, socks are probably not on the top of your gift list. But that is about to change…

Introducing Bombas, game changing athletic socks with a mission to help those in need.

Bombas’ Founders David Heath and Randy Goldberg decided to create the perfect pair of socks after learning that socks are the most requested clothing item at homeless shelters. They figured the better the socks, the more people would buy and the more they could donate to those in need. So they re-engineered the athletic sock from the toe up and and re-imagined what a sock company can do for the community: for every pair of socks you purchase, they donate a pair to someone in need.

With a little help from crowd funding platform Indiegogo, Bombas raised $142,400 in forty days – the 3rd highest fundraising amount for a fashion brand in Indiegogo history –  to create the only sock company to donate pairs to someone in need. Now fully launched as an e-commerce site, Bombas has donated 32,000+ pairs of socks to date to their charity partner, Hannah’s Socks, a non-profit whose sole mission is to get socks to those in need. Hannah’s has a goal to distribute 225,000 socks this year, and Bombas is here to help reach that goal this holiday season.

Bombas takes their socks seriously–they’re technically advanced, incredibly soft, and they support your feet in all the right places while adding a splash of color in a mostly monochromatic sock world.

How to Get My Product to Market: Invention Ideas: Marketing Strategies: Best PR Firms

Do you have an amazing product idea… and have taken it through concept development into a working business? If so, are you wondering how you move forward and get your product to market so you can experience growth and success? Here are some tips for next steps:

1. Develop a PR Campaign: After you have developed your business and product idea, it is important to get the word out. While advertising definitely helps create impressions in the minds of consumers, PR will develop credibility for your brand. If magazine editors or TV personalities are endorsing your product, your credibility will increase in the mind of consumers. This often leads to increased sales and exposure. In addition, if you have a meeting with a retail store buyer, the more press you are able to present, the more likely they will be compelled to place a PO.

2. Launch Social Media Initiatives: In this day and age, it is important to regularly update your social media accounts, interact with consumers, communicate with your target market, and develop your brand “personality.” While you have many demands on you as an entrepreneur, it’s important to keep your social media accounts updated regularly so consumers view your company as active and relevant.

3. Develop PR Digital Videos: PR videos are a growing medium in the realm of marketing, especially if your video ends up going viral. Videos can be used in a myriad of ways to help expand your reach – either via visibility on your website, going viral, recogntion at tradeshows as a means to tell your story, or distribution via press releases to the media for an easy way to present more about your company.

4. Celebrity Photo Marketing: When media experts talk about your product, you receive increased branding recognition. The same is true when you have a celebrity presence as their reach is very broad to their large fan base. Positioning celebrities as fans of your product, leads to increased credibility when presenting your company to investors, buyers or media experts.

5. Channel Management & Distribution: After you receive a strong branding presence (or while you are ramping up this initiative), you will want to approach either small boutique-sized stores which helps for immediate funding and building your brand – and/or approaching mass retail stores about your product for large-scale growth (this often requires funding for cash flow issues).

ChicExecs PR firm, developed by entrepreneurs who launched a successful brand, offers opportunities in each of the 5 categories above.

To receive a 10% discount on your first month of any of the options, email and mention “INVENTION IDEAS.”

RoloDoc on Shark Tank: Social Media Marketing Companies: Entrepreneurs Examples

Did you see the recent Shark Tank episode featuring RoloDoc? The company’s stated goal was to innovate communication and bring social media to the medical field. The sharks felt their idea was based on one to one communication versus social media and were concerned about security issues, therefore the company didn’t make a deal with the sharks.

The KEY point here, is the emphasis on the importance of social media in the current age. Do you have a product or service? If so, our guess is that you are already working close to 20 hours per day to keep up with all the demands that tend to fall on entrepreneurs. (Fortunately the hourly demands are taxing but it’s worth the effort because most likely you are passionate about what you do!)

But we must ask, are you keeping up with your company Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Blog….etc? This is where the highest level of interaction takes place with your consumers and target market, leading to increased branding and sales. While managing the books, inventory levels, distribution, marketing campaigns and more often take the front seat… it’s important that you don’t neglect your social media.

ChicExecs PR, developed by entrepreneurs who also launched a now successful brand, has recently released a Social Media initiative. We can post daily for you on your social networks. Would you like us to manage one or all of your social media outlets?

Selena Gomez Postcard on the Run: Shark Tank Episodes: Celebrity Endorsements Examples

Did you see the recent Shark Tank episode featuring the company Postcard on the Run? Congrats to the company for making a deal with Shark Tank investor, Robert Herjavec. He bought into the company at $300,000 for 7.5% (a $4 million valuation).

Robert’s face lit up when founder of Postcard on the Run, Josh Brooks (who formerly ran marketing for MySpace), mentioned that his business partner and investment company is celebrity Selena Gomez who was involved in the angel round and the seed round of funding. After hearing that information, Robert jumped to make an offer and invest in the company.

Celebrity endorsements and/or photos of celebrities with products give companies an added credibility which leads to greater growth. Imagine going into a meeting with a potential investor or retail store buyer, and sharing pictures of your product photographed with celebrities who are now FANS of your product! It would help seal the deal.

ChicExecs PR, developed by entrepreneurs who launched the successful brand, ChicBuds (, offers opportunities to get your product photographed with celebrities. Check out some of our celebrity photos here:
